The basic formula

A 600-word article at 200 wpm comes out to exactly 3 minutes; the same article at 250 wpm comes out closer to 2.4 minutes, rounded up to about 2 to 3 minutes depending on the tool's rounding rule.

Why the same article gives different reading-time estimates on different sites
